Installation Procedures#
1. Download the connection manager manually using the link below: https://www.peplink.com/support/downloads/#max-adapter OR > here <
Peplink Connection Manager installation:
Tick the “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” before clicking the “Install” button.
Wait for the installation to complete.
Tick “Launch Peplink Connection Manager” and click “Finish” after the installation is complete.
This is the User Interface of the Peplink Connection Manager after launching the application.
2. Connect the USB-C power port to the laptop in order to power the MAX Adapter via USB-C cable.
3. Wait for the status LED to turn green and begin blinking.
4. You may manage the MAX Adapter settings via Peplink Connection Manager on the laptop.
Peplink Connection Manager#
The following screenshots are from the user interface of the Peplink Connection Manager after you have powered on the device with a SIM inserted for connectivity. You may choose which connection that you would like to use for the MAX Adapter with either a local SIM (which is SIM Slot A or SIM Slot B) or an eSIM for connectivity.
The section contains SIM status, general device information, throughput and usage (KB).
You may configure the SIM settings, system settings, and view the device information by navigating to the “Advanced” button.
Click “More” to show more details about the SIM information such as “IMSI”, “ICCID”, “MTN”, etc. You may click the “Edit” button under “Opr. Settings” to configure the APN settings of your connection.
This Operator Setting allows you to configure the APN settings of your connection. If Auto is selected, the mobile operator should be detected automatically. The connected device will be configured and the connection will be made automatically. If there is any difficulty in making a connection, you may select Custom to enter your carrier’s APN, Username, and Password settings manually. The correct values can be obtained from your carrier.
The default and recommended setting is Auto.
You may change the system settings such as “Language”, “Auto-Launch on Login”, “Auto Connect”, and “SMS Notifications” by navigating to the “Settings” tab.
You may go to the “About” tab to view the device status and general device information such as “Serial Number”, “SW Version”, “Uptime”, “Signal Strength” and “Signal Quality”, etc.
You may view more device information such as “HW Revision”, “SW Revision”, and “IMEI” by clicking on the “More” button.
Setup on Linux Distributions#
The following screenshots are from the user interface of the Linux distributions and describes the steps to setup the connection for the MAX Adapter on Ubuntu 20.04.1 TLS.
- Download the Linux distributions software and install it.
- Launch Ubuntu and connect the MAX Adapter via USB to your laptop.
- When the MAX Adapter is connected, expand the “Mobile Broadband” dropdown menu by clicking on the right hand, and select the Mobile Broadband Settings. Alternatively, you may go to Settings.
- The page will navigate to the Network settings after clicking the Mobile Broadband Settings. You can select “Add new connection” from the dropdown menu to set up the mobile broadband connection profile.
- After selecting “Add new connection”, the mobile broadband profile setup will pop out. Click “Next” to continue.
- Select the provider’s country or region and then click Next.
- Select your provider from the list or set up the connection manually if your provider isn’t listed.
- Choose your data plan from the dropdown menu and it will auto-select the APN. Alternatively, you may customize the APN. The correct value can be obtained from your provider. Once completed, click Next.
- Once setup is complete, confirm that the mobile broadband settings are correct before clicking “Apply”.
- After clicking “Apply”, the mobile broadband will connect to the Internet using the MAX Adapter and you can start browsing the Internet.

Mounting the Unit
Wall Mount
The MAX Adapter can mount on the wall with screws. After adding the screw on the wall, MAX Adapter’s bottom hole slide to the screws as indicated below. Recommended screw specification M3.5 x 20mm, head diameter 6mm, head thickness 2.4mm.
The MAX Adapter requires two screws for wall mounting.
